Series - The Faithful and the Fallen

You may consider some of what I say in these reviews "spoilers." I do not intend to give anything major away. Still, reader beware. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Audio Books in the Series

Overall rating: 4.5/5 - well written and narrated.

Malice

Click to read my Malice reviewGwynne, the author, does a good job of introducing all the major characters in this volume. He also does a good job of introducing his world. Lynch, the narrator, does a great job of bringing the story to life by giving a unique voice to all the major characters. I really appreciate it when a narrator does that!
I thought the author maintained a good pacing for this book and the entire series. It did take me a few chapters to get into the story and to care about the characters. I heartily recommend reading this book (and the rest of the series)!

Valor

Click to read my Valor reviewValor expands upon the first novel. Again, I think both the author, Gwynne, and the narrator, Lynch, do their jobs well. This novel really brings home the mission of both the hero and his nemesis--the nemesis really cares about and begins pursuing his goals in this volume--the hero mostly just runs. We also get to know many of the others who will help both sides of this conflict. We experience several battles in Valor. The fight scenes can get a bit graphic--but, I don't think it's over done (this holds true for this entire series).

Ruin

Click to read my Ruin reviewFinally, the hero takes the reins of their mission and begins to fight back! Unfortunately, he will experience loss (as will many others). In this story, the hero really doesn't know how they will win--they just know they must do it, or lose everything and everyone they care about.

Wrath

Click to read my Wrath reviewThis is it--the final battle (and it's a big one)! Good vs Evil--betrayer vs betrayed. I found it surprising that the hero got captured so many times in this series--especially with the number and quality of people arrayed to protect him. Anyway, we do experience some more loss in Wrath--some I didn't expect. Overall, I really enjoyed the story.
